  1. Is there a whole Toophan subculture built up around citrus, and it’s use?

I’m imagining kids setting up a lemonade stand on the corner having much more sinister overtones in the future.

    • I’m picturing the stereotypical “Mexican selling oranges on the side of the highway” merging darkly with the various drug/street gangs from movies like “Boyz n the Hood” and “Menace to Society”

i’m also wondering how tomato sauces would be handled as tomatoes are related to oranges/limes/etc.
it’s also interesting to note that some of the vitamins present in citrus fruits and tomatoes are also found in rosehips but not in any significant quantities in other plants. which adds an interesting spin on bringing your date a bouquet of flowers.

and all of that makes me wonder why i’m spending so much time working out the logistics of a (probably) fictional race from a sci-fi genre web comic…

      • Rosehips are actually part of the apple family. Or apples are part of the rose family, whichever. (It’s more obvious if you look at wild roses rather than the modern bred rose.)

Which brings me to my next point: just why are you comparing apples to oranges?
