Given that Gerazoun perished of old age, it can be presumed that the ship had no other hibernation capabilities. So the fact that the Tube thing is still recognizably tube thing indicates that it’s either a preserved specimen, or a part of the ship (which despite being organic is also quite old). I suppose, give the multiple wires running out of it, it could be something like the ships computer? Maybe Zara is the software to tube things hardware.
