Agatha Christie’s murder mysteries come to mind.
But I can’t find (invent) any significance for “Perrine”.
Agatha is a fantastic name if you’re going for old and classy. Merrine just sounded nice.
Given Painwell’s past, (a servant who dallied with one of her employers and was subsequently killed for it) I wonder if she’d have any hangups about a longer term relationship with Jelli?
She’s certainly seemed okay with it thus far; she even seems to be enjoying herself. But, well, she does have some history there.
It’s not something she’s given much thought. She’s done well on her own so far.
